Immigrant families need YOUR help to avoid eviction

In late January, we shared that immigrant families across Maine were hit with sudden income loss following immigration enforcement activity. While enforcement has slowed, the crisis has not. Rental assistance requests have nearly doubled in just one month — from 68 in January to 132 in February — revealing how quickly housing instability is escalating.

Families are missing paychecks, losing shifts, or facing temporary job loss. For households earning at or near minimum wage, even two weeks without income can mean falling behind on rent and facing eviction.

The risk is immediate.

Since February 1, 25 families have remained housed because of the Emergency Rental Relief Fund — but many more are waiting. We must act now before short-term setbacks turn into long-term housing crises.
